Terms of use
Last updated 12 August 2026
These terms cover the BCI Southern Africa Chapter Conference app for 12 and 13 August 2026, run by the BCI Southern Africa Chapter. By creating an account you accept them. If you do not, please do not use the app.
Who the app is for
It is for people attending the conference. You need an account to see any part of it, and you sign in with a code sent to your email address. Keep access to that mailbox to yourself: anyone who can read it can post to the wall as you.
The message wall
The wall is a shared space for everyone at the conference, and everything on it is visible to every attendee under your name. Post as you would speak from the floor.
Do not post anything that is:
- abusive, harassing, discriminatory or threatening
- defamatory, or someone else's confidential or personal information
- advertising, recruitment or spam
- unlawful, or infringing someone else's rights
There are limits on how quickly you can post, to keep one person from crowding out the room. You keep ownership of what you write, and you give us permission to display it in the app for the conference and to keep a copy for moderation.
Moderation
Conference moderators may remove a message, pause your posting for a period, or stop you posting altogether, at their discretion and without notice. Removed messages are hidden from attendees rather than erased, so a mistake can be undone. If you think a decision was wrong, speak to a conference organiser.
Programme content
Session times, rooms and speaker profiles are published in good faith and may change at short notice, including during the conference. The app is not a ticket, and it does not guarantee entry to a session.
Pax Resilience competition
The prize is an Amazon Echo Dot. Competition entries close at 15:00 South African Standard Time on Thursday 13 August 2026. You may enter once, and the details you submit must be accurate. An entry made on paper and an entry made in the app under the same email address count as the same entry.
You must be present in person at the conference when the winner is announced. If the person selected is not present, another winner may be drawn. Selecting Yes or No to contact from Pax Resilience does not change your eligibility or chance of winning.
Availability
We will try to keep the app running throughout the conference, but we cannot promise it will always be available or error free, and it depends on venue connectivity we do not control. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss arising from the app being unavailable or from anything another attendee posts.
Ending your access
You can ask us to close your account at any time by writing to southernafrica@bcichapter.net. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of South Africa.
See also the privacy policy, which covers what we collect and who can see it.
